2002 The Shiloh Cemetery is part of the Sanford Cemetery Complex. The complex consists of All Souls Catholic Cemetery, Lake View Cemetery, Evergreen Cemetery, the combined Colored / Page Jackson Cemetery and in the very back, Shiloh Baptist Cemetery, AKA Friendship and Union Lodge Cemetery. The cemeteries are interconnected by the many winding dirt roads. We first recorded this cemetery in 2002. I am not sure if all graves have vaults but most have cement stones or "caps" the length of the graves, unless other wise noted. Many graves have funeral home metal markers with the information listed on them. Some graves have peel and stick letters on them. 2007 At that time of my first recording in 2002, the cemetery was neat and well cared for. The second recording was on 13 Jan 2007. Many graves have been added since the first recording, unfortunately with the addition of new graves the cemetery is no longer neat and well cared for. Many graves from the first recording no longer have their metal markers thus leaving them unidentifiable. Some graves such as Rose Perkins, Eddie Lee Smith Jr. and Kavi Neon Wilford had their metal markers replaced with beautiful headstones. The Cemetery complex is off of 25th Street (C.R. 46A) in Sanford, Florida. Evergreen and All Souls cemeteries face 25th street. Lakeview cemetery is directly behind All Souls. Page Jackson Cemetery is behind Lakeview Cemetery and Shiloh Baptist is behind Page Jackson. Some of Seminole County's pioneers are buried in Lakeview cemetery. |
